Seattle, WA - ExOfficio, a leading manufacturer of adventure travel apparel, is a proud sponsor of the 2013 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, providing scholarship funds for the Banff Adventure Filmmaker Workshop participants, and sponsoring the festival award for the Best Film on Mountain Wildlife and Natural History.

The eight-day Adventure Filmmakers’ Workshop, taking place during the festival, offers independent and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to turn their project into reality, under the guidance of Keith Partridge and Michael Brown, two of the world’s premier adventure filmmakers. Past workshop participants have gone on to be finalists in the festival. In addition to supplying scholarship funds, ExOfficio awarded the workshop participants and faculty with quick-drying, odor-resistant and eco-friendly ExOfficio JavaTech™ shirts, designed for active performance.

On the final night of the festival, “Cold Warriors: Wolves and Buffalo” directed by Jeff Turner, received the ExOfficio-sponsored award for Best Film on Mountain Wildlife and Natural History. The 54-minute film, utilizing the latest camera technology coupled with 25 years of expertise in tracking and understanding wolf behavior, delivers some of the most intimate footage ever captured in the wild. “This is wildlife filmmaking at its finest,” said film juror Maggie Rhodes of National Geographic Channels Worldwide. “From the powerful, expert cinematography to the stunning imagery of North America's great wilderness to the masterfully crafted narrative about the relationship of these two majestic beasts and their fight for survival, the film was impressive from start to finish.” The film premiered in 2013 on PBS’s Nature TV Series.

The annual festival took place October 27 to November 3, 2013 in Banff, Alberta, Canada. To see the full list of winning films at the 2013 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, visit here.
