Sweaters and mid-layers provide moisture and odor management with natural fibers

Seattle, WA – ExOfficio, a leading manufacturer of adventure travel apparel is introducing a new JavaTechTM and wool knit performance blend in a collection sweaters and mid-layers for the Fall 2014 season. The combination of fibers provides warmth and comfort in colder temperatures, plus moisture-wicking and anti-microbial properties for active pursuits.

ExOfficio’s JavaTech fabric features recycled coffee grounds that efficiently wick moisture, and is naturally quick drying and a great neutralizer of odor. Recycled coffee ground particles are imbedded in the yarn fiber as a microscopic powder, increasing its surface area, allowing the fabric to quickly and efficiently grab moisture away from skin. The fibers act as channels to draw moisture to the surface where it evaporates quickly. The quick evaporation helps with the wearer’s temperature regulation, keeping the body drier for longer, therefore less affected by cold air. The quick-drying quality also allows heat and perspiration to escape, keeping the body cool in warm weather or in high energy activities. The fabric stays fresh because odors are attracted to and trapped in the porous surface of coffee particles, staying there until they are released in the wash. The JavaTech treatment is permanent, and will not wash or wear out.

By blending the JavaTech fabric technology with wool, there is added comfort of a natural fiber that is durable and strong, and insulates well for colder-weather activities, equaling better comfort and moisture management plus warmth.
