As of May 1st Encounter Mara in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy will be a part of the Asilia Africa portfolio. Rich game viewing combined with community interaction and the freedom to walk and fly camp has made Mara Naboisho Conservancy one of the most exciting safari destinations in Kenya.
The Mara Naboisho Conservancy is a vital corridor for the little known Loita Migration that sees up to 5,000 wildebeest and 1,000 zebra move through the area annually. Naboisho is also a haven for elephant with more elephant per kilometre squared than in the Maasai Mara Reserve. Lion have also thrived within the conservancy as well as leopard, cheetah and the rare striped hyena. However the real magic of Naboisho is its sheer exclusivity with only a handful of lodges, ensuring a rare level of safari solitude in the busy Serengeti and Maasai Mara reserves.
Encounter Mara is a permanent camp of 10 tents, all with en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and traditional bush showers. The private verandahs boast views of the endless savannah. For families there are 2 tents that can fit a third bed. The main lounge area looks out to a salt lick that attracts a variety of game throughout the day, allowing guests to enjoy excellent game viewing from the lodge itself.
Local Maasai guides, many of whom are landowners themselves, will interpret the bush for guests on game drives, bush walks and night drives as well as introduce them to the communities who are living in harmony with the land.
With Asilia’s leading role across the Mara Conservancies and now increased footprint in Mara Naboisho they intend to continue to build stability in the conservancies.
