SEATTLE – The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) today announced that Eddie Bauer, a specialty retailer of sportswear, outerwear, gear and accessories for the active outdoor lifestyle, is now the Official Outfitter of the ATTA and will be the sole apparel Sponsor of the ATTA’s consumer-facing adventure directory website. Eddie Bauer First Ascent will also be the Presenting Sponsor of the 2010 Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) Day of Adventure.

As a Major Sponsor, Eddie Bauer joins Visit Scotland and Cairngorms National Park as the ATTA’s only Major Sponsors. Eddie Bauer’s increased level of support of the ATTA illustrates the brand’s interest in more deeply re-connecting with its respected adventure and mountaineering heritage. Additionally, its decision to support the ATTA dovetails strategically with First Ascent, Eddie Bauer’s line of world-class expedition gear created with some of the best mountain guides in the world.

“Since Eddie Bauer first founded his sport shop 90 years ago, the company has provided gear and apparel for the untamable spirit of adventure,” said Neil Fiske, president and CEO of Eddie Bauer. “Our partnership with ATTA furthers that mission, encouraging responsible development of adventure travel practices.”

ATWS, adventure tourism’s primary executive conference, will be held October 4-7, 2010, in Scotland with Eddie Bauer as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2010 ATWS Day of Adventure, when the majority of 600 ATWS delegates representing a cross-section of adventure travel industries will kick off the Summit by participating in physical, cultural and outdoor adventure experiences.

The sponsorship agreement between Eddie Bauer and the ATTA comprises reciprocal trade and consumer marketing and cross-promotional initiatives as well as financial support for the ATTA.

Throughout 2010, the ATTA has experienced unprecedented sponsor and membership growth. “Over the past six years, the ATTA, with support from our members, partners and sponsors, has put a face and voice to the global adventure travel community,” said ATTA President Shannon Stowell. “Our growth, and increased interest from global brands, directly reflects the continued expansion of the industry backed by our collective efforts to expand and fuel responsible development of adventure tourism.”
