PATA Launches China Responsible Tourism Forum

Bangkok: The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in collaboration with China International Heritage Towns Exposition, have organised the China Responsible Tourism Forum (CRTF). The forum will take place in Beijing on December 16, 2011. The event will coincide with the China Heritage Towns Exposition that will be held at the same venue December 16-18. The forum aims to help, protect and preserve the heritage and culture of ancient villages in China, while responsibly developing these villages to boost tourism. The forum will discuss the threat that mass tourism poses to these communities and their residents. More importantly, the forum will highlight the value tourism may bring if executed thoughtfully. Experts to Debate Role of Tourism in Fostering Regional Integration and Social Inclusion in the Americas

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Government of Ceará, Brazil, will bring together international and national experts to debate the impact of tourism on development, social inclusion and regional integration in the Americas (Fortaleza, Brazil, 28- 29 November 2011). The conference will focus on the relationship between the economic impact of tourism and social inclusion, regional integration, mega sporting events and natural and cultural heritage. Bangkok: The first Pacific Asia Indigenous Tourism Conference (PAITC) will take place on 28-30 March 2012 in Darwin, Australia.
