ATTA Quoted in Travel Weekly Article About Jordan / Egypt Tourism Delegation

The ATTA and President Shannon Stowell were mentioned in an April 2011 article in Travel Weekly about his recent exploratory mission in Egypt and Jordan, of which he reported back on the state and immediate future of tourism and its recovery there. The visiting trade association leaders and tour operators participated in a forum staged for Jordanian travel professionals, offering advice, trading ideas and taking questions… They urged the Jordanians “to get engaged” with the U.S. trade associations. Adventure Travel World Summit Mentioned in the Scotsman

The recent merger between Wild Scotland and Activity Scotland, stemming from a discussion started at the 2010 ATWS, was covered in the Sunday version of the Scotsman. The new body – the Wildlife and Adventure Tourism Association – aims to market Scotland as a “one-stop shop” for outdoor activity holidays. ATTA Coverage in eTurboNews

ATTA’s participation in the recent travel industry delegation to Egypt and Jordan to help aid recovery of tourism was covered in eTurboNews. President Shannon Stowell represented the ATTA on the journey. The delegation includes leaders of top outbound-producing travel associations — NTA, United States Tour Operators Association, American Society of Travel Agents, and Adventure Travel Trade Association — along with tour operators and travel journalists, including a representative of the Society of American Travel Writers. The trip provides an avenue for industry leaders to reach out to the region, according to Lisa Simon, president of NTA. “Together with our partners, the Egyptian Tourist Authority, Jordan Tourism Board, and USTOA, we determined the best way to show that the tourism industry cares is to go there,” said Simon, “We want to see the destinations for ourselves, meet with Egyptian and Jordanian tourism officials, and then share our story when we return.” Read... Read More →

ATTA’s Stowell Quoted in The Jordan Times on the Travel Industry Delegation Supporting Egypt and Jordan

Overnight visitors dropped by 6.8 per cent, while package tours witnessed a 20 per cent decrease in March compared to the same month of last year (Petra photo courtesy of The Jordan Times) Shannon Stowell was quoted in a recent article in The Jordan Times, about the visiting delegation of American travel industry executives on a trip called “Restoring the Journey: Support Travel to Egypt and Jordan.” Stowell has been touring the two countries to view the current state of tourism infrastructure as well as show support for the recovery of their tourism industries: “We know that Jordan is safe, but we need to deliver the message to our customers,” Adventure Travel Trade Association President Shannon Stowell noted.
