Tickets for the 2015 Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS), slated for October 5 - 9 in Puerto Varas, Chile, sold out in record time. With all 700 registrations made before July 1, this year’s Summit filled up sooner than any of the previous ten Summits. The ATTA maintains a waitlist in case of last minute cancellations or other opportunities to offer additional tickets.
“This is the earliest we’ve ever started a waitlist for Summit,” said ATTA President Shannon Stowell. “A sold-out Summit means we’re offering something the industry clearly values, and it’s difficult to turn people away, but we know how important it is to keep the Summit at an optimal size for maximum education and networking potential.”
Delegates representing adventure travel operations, destinations and organizations come from all over the world to attend the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s (ATTA) annual event. This year’s Summit is co-hosted by Turismo Chile and will be held in the lakes region of Chile in and around Puerto Varas. Many participants will explore the country for the days leading up to the Summit on Pre-Summit Adventures from the Atacama desert in the north to the glaciers of Patagonia in the south. And almost all delegates will participate in the Day of Adventure, with full day activities around the lake region. Attendees this year represent over 55 different countries.
In addition to timely trend updates and business expertise, the intimate industry conference will offer keynote addresses from big names in conservation and responsible travel and break-out concurrent sessions will ask delegates to consider difficult questions about their role in an emerging sector of a constantly evolving industry. This year’s theme is “Viva la revolucion de la aventura!” with the hope of inspiring industry representatives to consider changing travel in big ways from the inside out.
