winner-feature-photo-2(SEATTLE) September 15, 2015 – The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA; www.adventuretravel.biz) has announced the winner in this year’s Adventure in Motion film contest. Thousands of individual adventure travelers voted on their favorite video entries during the month-long online film contest and when the votes were tallied, the clear winner was “Alpine Ski Touring in East Greenland - Remote Peaks of Greenland” from Icelandic Mountain Guides.

Tourism organizations and business including destination boards, tour operators and outdoor brands submitted short, inspiring films dedicated to the concept of adventure travel; the contest had a total of 74 submissions. Travelers could watch the films on the Adventure.Travel website and cast their vote by clicking a Facebook like button. Over 70,000 votes were cast.

"We are really excited to hear that our video has won the Adventure in Motion contest,” said Arnar Már Ólafsson of Greenland Adventures by Icelandic Mountain Guides. “The untouched wilderness of Greenland has fascinated us since our first visit. It is such a pleasure to get this chance to promote a destination that is so special and captivating."

The winner will receive a ticket to the 2016 Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) in Anchorage, Alaska, and membership to the ATTA for a year. The film will be screened in front of 700 delegates during a plenary session at this year’s ATWS in Puerto Varas, Chile, on October 7.

AiMThis is the second year in a row that the ATTA has presented the Adventure in Motion film contest, but this year’s contest was the first in which travelers had the ability to vote for the winner. Last year a panel narrowed down the finalists and then the audience at the Adventure Travel World Summit in Ireland voted on the winner.

“Adding the videos this year to the Adventure.Travel website meant that thousands of travelers could experience the thrill of adventure travel through these inspiring short films,” said ATTA VP of Marketing & Communications Casey Hanisko. “Travelers were exposed to destinations as diverse as Peru, Dominica, Basque Country and Croatia and as remote as Antarctica, Greenland and Fiji.”
